PSUpload has been around since last century! It was originally written by Mark Knickelbain and has steadily grown in popularity. We estimate it's currently in use on over 50,000 websites with over 150,000 downloads. PSUpload is a quick and easy to implement File Upload Script for permitting the upload of any type of file (ASCII & Binary) to your server from your web site.
In November of 2000, PSUpload was totally re-written by the then PerlServices Programmer. In 2003 it was again rewritten and we've now released Version 4. PSUpload now allows users to specify:
- File types to permit upload of...
- AutoRenaming feature to prevent overwriting of existing files....
- Maximum size of individual files...
- Redirecting individual to alternate web pages...
- Whether or not to print the contents of your directory after a successful file upload...
- and more...
PS Upload Version 4.0 is a cross platform compatible File Upload Perl script that has been installed and tested on WIndows, Linux, Mac, Unix, Sun and BSDOS servers. One script fits all!
CGI File upload scripts do not perform as well as PS Upload because they are out of date or have been poorly coded. We have put in place features such as checking of file sizes before the upload actually takes place to save time and resources.
Max Reported Successful File Upload Benchmark: 1.2Gb!
On June 6th, 2003 we were notified by P. Miunske that he used PSUpload to transfer a gigantic
1.2Gb (Yes, Giga Byte) file on a 100MBit network.
Please note that this is not a maximum limit for the program, but simply the largest file we
have been made aware of!
