Ascii Codes
You can be sure if your typing any number or letter of the English alphabet (symbols 32 -126) in to your html document, that it will appear in any browser just as you anticipated it would. However to have the symbols numbered 127-291 such as the “ ” and < > you must use the codes listed below. To have the less than and greater than symbols ( the characters used to create HTML tags ) to actually appear on HTML, use their ascii values, '<' or the name codes '<' without the quotes. Try using other numbers and see what sort of symbols you can find. Be sure to check the rendering in both Internet Explorer and Netscape.
